Winter Wheel Program by Schmidt

As a wheel manufacturer with a production facility in Bad Segeberg, we have taken on this special task. On this page, you won’t find any standard applications! Stand out from the masses and drive with style, even in winter. No chance for steel rims!

You can get our winter wheels as an all-inclusive solution from your local tire dealer. Simply ask there. They will get in touch with us and procure the wheels, tires, and of course the sensors for you. Your specialist dealer will handle the installation and, if necessary, the registration of the winter wheels and tires for you.

Why Winter Tires – Winter Tire Requirement

Since 2010, winter tires have been mandatory in Germany. The first ground frost can appear as early as October, and it’s advisable to store your winter tires again around mid-April.

Not only is the tread pattern different from that of summer tires, but the rubber compound also differs.

The tread of winter tires is deeper than that of summer tires and has additional small grooves in the running surface. These small grooves help channel water into the larger grooves, allowing it to drain off more easily. They also “bite” into snow and slush, providing more grip.

The rubber compound contains a higher proportion of natural rubber, making it softer than that of summer tires. This compound remains flexible even at temperatures below 7 °C, ensuring more grip even below freezing.

Optimally Adapted Winter Wheels – Custom for Your Vehicle

At Schmidt, we tailor your winter wheels perfectly to your vehicle. The correct bolt pattern and center bore are a given.

We also adjust the offset for winter use, ensuring that the wheel sits slightly further inside the wheel arch. This helps prevent excess saltwater and slush from being flung onto the car’s outer body. As a result, your car stays cleaner for longer, and the paintwork is better protected from aggressive road salt.

Even with full steering lock, all vehicle heights remain free of obstruction – because especially in winter, with icy wheel arches, we take no risks.

Schmidt Alloy Wheels for Winter Use

With a Schmidt wheel, you never have to compromise. Winter suitability combined with dynamic sportiness leaves nothing to be desired. Even “exotic” models and large brake systems are no problem for us.

With our made-to-order production, we can fulfill your specific requests.

For all new cars registered after November 1, 2014, tire pressure sensors are mandatory.

This also applies to winter wheels.

In our partner shop MaxSensor, you can find affordable tire pressure sensors for your wheels – no need for time-consuming reinstallation! Simply mount the TPMS sensors directly with your tires.

Powder Coating for Winter Wheels

In powder coating, a fine powder coating material is sprayed onto an electrically conductive workpiece. The powder is electrostatically charged with voltages up to 100,000 volts.

The workpiece is then baked in an oven, where the powder melts into a uniform surface. Compared to liquid painting, this process offers the following advantages:

  • High impact resistance
  • Wear resistance
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Corrosion protection
  • Chemical resistance

Multi-Layer Clear Coat for Optimal Resistance to Saltwater

Schmidt wheels are not only powder-coated – they are also sealed with multiple layers of clear coat to provide even better protection against weather influences such as saltwater and UV radiation.

The clear coat not only seals the wheel but also offers additional protection against environmental factors.
